PROJECTS

Worked on numerous tourism related projects in Malaysia and Brunei, such as product surveys, destination factoral analysis reports, arrival and revenue statistics, destination development plans, tour guide training, website and photo library development and joint marketing programs with destination and trade partners; as well as writing and designing of brochures, promotional and advertisement materials, writing of tourism articles and website content, and event organization and coordination, such as cultural, sporting and travel trade events.

 

In the UK, coordinated and supervised the production of destination supplements for Nassau Paradise Island and the Bahamas with main trade publications in France, Italy and Germany; produced and regularly updated Power Point presentations for clients in St Lucia, Barbados, Jamaica and Nassau in the Bahamas, as well as initiated the production of  series email flyers for Nassau and Jamaica clients for distribution to Travel Agents in France, Italy and Germany.

BRUNEI INFORMATION KIT FOR MEDIA AND TRADE
March 2011 – August 2011


This media information kit was an ongoing project since joining Brunei Tourism in 2003, and saw various incarnations, with the latest one being made more comprehensive in amount of information, ready to be handed over to my colleagues to continue updating.

TRAVEX (Travel Exchange) at ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2010 in Brunei
January 2009 – January 2010


Secretary of the TRAVEX Committee for the 2010 ATF in Brunei, coordinating with appointed organizer TTG Asia the preparations, logistics and operations for the successful hosting of this 1,200 delegates travel trade event.

Rainforest World Music Festival (Sarawak - Malaysia)
July 1998 – June 2003


Was involved in the artist selection process, promotional aspects and general organizational aspects of the Festival, and in 2001 was Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the Festival's 4th edition, establishing at that time many of the parameters and critical success factors used in the 2001 and future editions of the Festival, making it Malaysia's most successful cultural event, and one of the top ranked World Music festivals, now in it's 20th edition.

BIMP - EAGA Tourism Fair (Sarawak - Malaysia)
September 1994 – June 1995


Seconded to Faradale Communications to organize and coordinate with officials, participants and contractors all aspects of preparations for the 1st BIMP - EAGA (Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines - East ASEAN Growth Area) Tourism Fair to be held in Kuching in June 1995.

Sarawak Tourism Network Newsletter (Sarawak - Malaysia)
September 1994 – June 1995


Seconded to Faradale Communications to develop design and contents of the Sarawak Tourism Network newsletter for distribution locally and overseas. Wrote many of the articles and features, conducted interviews and edited contents from other writers.

Survey to assess the eco and adventure tourism potential in the Lawas area (Sarawak - Malaysia)
February 1994 – March 1994


Conducted a survey on the tourism potential of the Lawas region in northern Sarawak, in view of establishing in partnership with a French outdoors activity company a "Leisure Base" for rafting, mountain biking, jungle trekking, canyoning, etc, and presented the results in a report submitted to the Sarawak Ministry of Environment and Tourism.
